Our program is founded in the trauma informed model “ARC” - Attachment Regulation and Competency. The Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework is a flexible, components-based intervention developed for children and adolescents who have experienced complex trauma, along with their caregiving systems. ARC’s foundation is built upon four key areas of study: normative childhood development, traumatic stress, attachment, and risk and resilience. Drawing from these areas, ARC identifies important childhood skills and competencies which are routinely shown to be negatively affected by traumatic stress and by attachment disruptions, and which – when addressed – predict resilient outcome.
Our 16-bed facility is in the Appalachian region of Southeast Ohio in the rolling hills of Athens County. Our program is here to provide safe and nurturing care to youth who have experienced complex trauma and to help them learn to safely cope with the myriad of emotional and behavioral issues that often result from such trauma. We serve all genders and are an unlocked facility, so we are unable to accept juvenile sex offenders or sexually aggressive youth. The ages and genders accepted will be dependent on our current milieu.
Treatment services include individual, family, and group therapy, as well as expressive therapies such as art, movement, music, and recreation. These therapeutic approaches help youth further develop their capacity to self-regulate and provide them with opportunities to build healthy relationships and form trust in others.
Our program provides safety and structure to the youth in our care with a 1:5 staff-to-youth ratio, private/single bedrooms, access to 24/7 emergency nursing and/or therapy, and security cameras in shared areas.
We understand that connection, support, and belonging are imperative to the success of the youth’s integration back into their community. We are committed to developing collaborative, wrap-around care for the youth and their family during and after the youth’s residential treatment stay. We strive to build a bridge of service to ensure smooth transitions for the youth and their families as they move from one level of care to another.
