Stephanie Hairston has been promoted to Managing Director of Real Estate Operations. Stephanie has been with ISBH since June 2021 and has served as the Franklin County Housing Grants Manager. Her dedication to working with our funders and establishing policies, procedures, and processes has been noticed by her co-workers as well as outside partners who have expressed their appreciation and even interest in doing more programs with ISBH thanks to Stephanie and the housing team’s hard work.
Prior to her employment with ISBH, Stephanie had extensive property and asset management experience at Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, Ohio State University, and most recently the Houston Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Stephanie will continue to manage the housing grants in Franklin County but will now also oversee the administrative management of ISBH’s commercial and residential properties. Her expertise comes at a crucial time in ISBH’s growth and we are better positioned to succeed thanks to her dedication and talents.
Natashia Rapp is now Manager of Harm Reduction Strategy to reflect the organizational emphasis on harm reduction and its practical integration into the work we do with our clients.
Natashia Rapp has served as the Manager of Intensive Outpatient substance use programs for the past years and recently took on the Project Director lead on a SAMHSA grant project focusing on access to medications for opioid use disorder. This project reduces wait time for medication, works to remove barriers to care, and provides care in a way that honors the dignity and humanity of those served.
Natashia has also taken a leadership role in OhioSTART’s Family Peer Mentor services since ISBH committed to that in 2017. Through that work, Natashia was able to bear witness to the need for harm reduction approaches within our children’s services systems. She has also worked to lift up the essential voices of those with lived experience, who are deserving of a permanent seat at the table.
Harm reduction is a concept centered around both reducing risk and respecting the right of individuals to make informed choices about their own bodies and lives. Harm reduction is most often referred to as an approach used with individuals engaging in substance use practices that put their health and life at risk. However, we understand as a team that a harm reduction approach is relevant to all the work we do.
Harm reduction is not only about reducing harm, but it is also about finding the strengths and successes in each person's story. Building on those factors we come alongside those we serve with resources and support adding what we hope will be the boost in capacity that they need to be safe, well, and connected to people who care about them.
Natashia will continue to serve as a leader in the substance use and peer support but will also serve alongside all Managers and leadership to identify where harm reduction strategies could strengthen our work. Natashia will also be available to serve alongside Managers as they enter counties or conversations where harm reduction approaches are controversial due to continued stigma of those whom we are committed to serving.
