The New Beginnings Studios has been creating beautiful art for nearly 10 years and counting. Funded by the 317 Board of Athens, Hocking and Vinton Counties, and run by site director Kim Hagerty, this space is a daily drop-in “house” for individuals benefiting from social connections and support. A “member” has access to lunch, hygiene resources, field trips, art space and general behavioral health wraparound services. As a cohort, the members will often manage the house and plan gatherings, which they direct. That being said, an individual does not need to be a client of ISBH or even an artist. That’s the beauty of the New Beginnings Studios. We are an affirming space, all are welcome.
Artists display their work throughout the region and it often sells. The proceeds directly support the artist while also supporting our mission of spaying and neutering feral cats in the community. Speaking of cats, we do attempt to find homes for those which have been abandoned and have taken up residence at the studio. We are happy to deliver these cats to good homes.
