Fighting homelessness with Region 17 Rapid Rehousing

ISBH operates a variety of programs designed to increase housing stability for families and individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness in southeast Ohio by removing barriers to permanent housing wherever possible. 

Rapid Rehousing - All Counties Within Region 17
This intervention is designed to assist families and individuals to quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing.

Eligibility
Participants must meet income guidelines and homelessness must be verified and documented until housing is obtained:

  • Living in a place not meant for human habitation; car, park, tent, abandoned building, etc.
  • Living in an emergency or domestic violence shelter
  • Staying in a hotel/motel paid by charitable or government agency

Assistance
Rapid rehousing provides temporary, need based assistance to stabilize housing.

  • Time limited rental assistance
  • Housing identification
  • Case management and other supportive services

Homelessness Prevention – Perry and Vinton Counties Only
Available for youth in Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Meigs & Vinton.
This intervention is designed to prevent homelessness for families and individuals who are facing imminent risk of homelessness. Funding is limited. 

 

Eligibility
Participants must meet income guidelines, and imminent risk of homelessness must be verified and documented:

  • Will lose primary nighttime residence within 14 days

Assistance
Homelessness Prevention provides temporary, need based assistance to stabilize housing.

  • Short term rental assistance
  • Housing identification 
  • Housing case management & supportive services

Homeless Assistance for Youth - All Counties in Region 17
Young adults may qualify for additional services and support to stabilize housing.

 

Eligibility
Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Youth must be age 18 - 24
  • No household member may be older than 24
  • Must be RRH or HP program participants
  • Parenting youth are eligible

Assistance
Specialized youth assistance may include:

  • The purchase of items for the household, including infant supplies & food
  • Limited transportation assistance for work/school
  • Landlord incentives & risk mitigation

Our Office Staff will be happy to assist by gathering information to begin this process. The local Housing Specialist will then reach out to the individual directly as they reach the top of the waiting list to schedule the initial meeting as soon as possible.
