ISBH is excited to announce the opening of our new qualified residential treatment program, Mary Hill Youth and Family Center, for youth with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use diagnosis. MHYFC is a trauma informed youth and family centered program located in Nelsonville with services provided 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, with an expected length of stay not to exceed 90 days. Families, guardians, and community resources are included in all treatment whenever possible. All services are provided in a safe, trauma-informed, recovery-focused milieu designed to integrate the person served back into the community with their families and/or living independently whenever possible.
“Residential treatment facilities come with a long history of stigma, trauma and negativity, we wanted to create a program locally that is trauma informed and family focused. We start discharge planning with family involvement day one. We want to focus on shorter stays and get youth back to their home/community environment with wraparound services as quickly as we can.” -Sandy Sickles, Managing Director of Residential and Facility Based Services.
A 16 bed facility, Mary Hill Youth and Family Center (MHYFC) is a Class 1, Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) licensed by Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMAS) serving youth with complex behavioral health and multi-system needs. MHYFC was designed in cooperation with area child serving agencies with a goal of expanding capacity for residential behavioral health care in our area so our youth, and their families, can access the intensive services and supports they need in or near their communities.
MHYFC is an unlocked facility which provides nurturing and safe programming for all gender and non-binary youth ages 10 to 17. Treatment approach includes individual, family and group therapy along couples with therapeutic virtual reality programming, expressive and recreational therapies. MHYFC provides safety and structure to the youth with a 1:5 staff-to-youth ratio, private/single bedrooms, access to 24/7 emergency nursing and/or therapy and passive security in all shared/common areas.
MHYFC focuses on a family-centered treatment approach and endeavors to strengthen and preserve family connections. We know that connection, support, and belonging are imperative to the success of the youth's integration back into their home community. We are committed to collaborative, wrap-around care for the youth and their family during and after the youth’s residential treatment stay. We will strive to build a bridge of service to ensure smooth transitions for children and their families as they transition from one level of care to another.
